busy as a bee

darn. i need a vacation. again. and soon.

last friday was great. was able to go out with my friends and hang out at blue wave macapagal. we chilled for a couple of hours and then went to our favorite ktv bar in quezon avenue.

it wouldve been better to hang out at the one we frequented along roxas but chris' girlfriend stopped working there and started her own computer business. so there's no reason for us to hang out there unless one of kat's friends there tells on us.

again, we chatted most of the time. catched up on old times. we havent heard anything from our friends who're working in singapore. makes us rethink of going there. it might mean huge money, but less time for family and friends. and we're the types who prefer family over money.

anyways, i cant believe the women over at our fave ktv spot in qave. they get prettier and prettier. we couldnt pry our eyes away from one girl in particular who looked korean but had fair skin. she was sizzling. we still ended up with our partners from the last time we went there though.

then, the weekend saw me heading to two birthday parties. one's the birthday of my inaanak. and the other's that of the kid my mom's inaanak from a wedding. good thing my dad's around to do the driving. (which doesnt take away the fact that i dont know how to drive)

finally, after mulling over it for weeks ive decided to take away anonymous commenting. it sucks that i have to delete spam comments everytime (im sure bloggers have experienced those ad comments). not to mention, putting myself in an odd position whenever someone hints that they know me and i cant say the same thing about them.

i get a kicker from people always trying to figure out who i really am. it's as if its one big puzzle they need to figure out. but it kinda gets old you know?

only my very close friends know about this blog because it gets embarrassing when an acquaintance reads it and finds out i have depth.

im contemplating on changing my blog to 'friends only'. i think ive met enough people on tabulas who're worth keeping and ill be adding you up so you could still read my blog. unfortunately, only 32 friends are allowed, so ill try to find the ones id like to keep reading my blog.

ill think about it for this week.

i hate our network group

Posted by fartalot at 01:51 PM on February 21, 2006 in notizie.

damn it. just when i finally found a p2p software i could make work behind our web proxy, the frigging network group does a great work around by disconnecting my connection every 5 seconds.

and here i thought i could merrily choke our bandwidth by downloading mp3s to my heart's content by using limewire (which is an awesome client, btw).

now, what am i supposed to do with my time here at work? (did someone mention, 'actual work'? never mind).

if you guys know any software to download mp3s that can work behind a web proxy (such as filetopia), drop me the name so i could check it out.

also, anyone else who wants to be added on my friends list, raise your hands. ive shifted most of my entries to 'friends only' and itll be the default for most of my future entries.

happy 20th People Power everyone!

Posted by fartalot at 12:29 AM on February 23, 2006 in notizie.

we're all amazed with stories of human triumph. whether grand or smallscale. whether it involves millions or a solitary soul, we cant help but be touched and admire the resilience of the human spirit.

right now, im reading inq7.net's articles written by people at the forefront of the People Power revolution 20 years ago. and i cant stop wiping tears from the corners of my eyes.

real stories of real people contributing to a historic event with repercussions reverberating around the world, bringing democracy to those who have never experienced it.

read here, here, herehere, here, here, here, here, here, and here. (pcij.org also contains a lot of amazing anecdotes with regards to EDSA I)

it is stories and actual events like these that remind me why i should be proud of being a filipino. its not the boxing victories, not the golds in athletic competitions, not the beauty pageants. but the stories that show the heroic nature of every pinoy.

it is why i am extremely disappointed at how the administration is treating the celebration. a historic event like this should be celebrated for years and marked as a national holiday. and 20 years is a milestone which should be marked in equal grandeur.

but instead, for obvious reasons, they have not given the celebration the proper treatment it deserves. so again, as before, it was left to the people to stand up where the government has failed.

so even if i was mired in horrible traffic on my way home yesterday, i did not complain. this is the people celebrating EDSA I. this is the freedom our forerunners fought for. many had died in the 14 years of martial rule prior to People Power. many suffer and die still.

it saddens me that most Filipinos nowadays see these exercises of liberty as irksome, tedious, a waste of time, irritating, and worst of all, counter productive.

if it werent for the sacrifices of the multitude at People Power I, we may not be here now.

i guess most of them forgot what it was like to live 20 years ago. Filipinos do tend to have short memories.

and so, 20 years after, it is up to us, and the coming generations to remember and appreciate what People Power mean to us as Filipinos.
