moving out

i remember writing a blog last year that chances were by december, the gas prices would hit 50php per liter towards december. it was good that it didn't though. unfortunately, middle of 2008, it just passed the 53php mark.
since i dont drive, it shouldnt affect me at all, except of course the sudden fare increase of the fx/shuttles plying our route. problem though, is that it affects the car driving members of our family. my brother being the most affected.
he drives to makati everyday. and whereas, it used to cost him only 1000 php a week, driving back and forth, it now costs him around 1300php. that's 5200php a month. up a 1000 pesos from a month or two back. and because of that, he's decided to rent a pad of his own and move out. although he'd obviously spend more for the rent, it'll mean less time and energy lost to driving between makati and quezon city.
that means there's one less occupied seat at the dining table on weekdays. one less voice to hear. one less room occupied. it's sad in a way, but it was bound to happen sooner than later.
